Flashback Friday: Glacier National Park August 2022

Flashback Friday!

I’m getting my groove back and writing again. All the projects I’ve procrastinated on I’m finally getting done!

Here is my overview of hiking in Glacier NP.

Time Flies When You’re (not) Having Fun

Open’s an eye and looks around– is summer over yet? Almost. Time officially got away from me. Most of that is due to taking on a temporary promotion at work and having more duties as assigned. It’s starting to slow done but the ride isn’t over yet. Other than job related training and a weekContinue reading “Time Flies When You’re (not) Having Fun”

Wannabe on the Trail: Germ Theory…

It’s not what you think. Well, it kind of is… To begin, germ theory according to Britannia.com is, “germ theory, in medicine, the theory that certain diseases are caused by the invasion of the body by microorganisms, organisms too small to be seen except through a microscope.” It’s pretty spot on if you ask me.Continue reading “Wannabe on the Trail: Germ Theory…”

Wannabe on the Trail: SAD, Sick, and on the Mend

I don’t really have a lot to say but I figured I better do an update! Coivd sucked– I’m glad I had the vaccine. I did better than my husband (unvaxxed) but it still sucked. I still feel exhausted from it. However, I’m doing better and starting to get active again. It’s slow going though–Continue reading “Wannabe on the Trail: SAD, Sick, and on the Mend”

Wannabe on the Trail: Home Sick

I’m not homesick, I’m literally home sick. I’m getting a Covid test tomorrow but the last couple of days have been rough. Being home sick, normally means I’m comatose on the couch. Not this time! Now that I’m a mother— I don’t get that option. He’s also running a fever so he’s home with me.Continue reading “Wannabe on the Trail: Home Sick”

Wannabe on the Trail: Inspired by LOTRs

Well, the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings inspired a lot of my life choices. “Speak friend and enter.” (If you get that reference comment the answer 😉 Not all those who wander are lost— Bilbo Baggins. My grandmother had a copy of the Hobbit on her bookshelf. Although, we didn’t get along— too muchContinue reading “Wannabe on the Trail: Inspired by LOTRs”

Flashback Friday: Grand Teton & Yellowstone 2014 (quickest trip ever)

*7 Years by Lukas Graham playing in the background* It’s been seven years. Seven years since I branched out and headed west of my state of Missouri. Seven years of living the dream. Almost seven years of being with the love of my life. Looking back at how social media and the explosion of vanContinue reading “Flashback Friday: Grand Teton & Yellowstone 2014 (quickest trip ever)”

New Year, (semi) New Me

I haven’t posted in the last few days– holidays, weddings, and driving through a winter storm had my attention focused elsewhere. I’ve also been working on finishing up a couple of books for the Pennington Book Project, Perry the Pet Pig and the Barely Revised Edition of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways book. I’m hopingContinue reading “New Year, (semi) New Me”

Wannabe on the Trail: Winter Hiking

Not going to lie I’m not big on winter hiking. I respect those that go out and do it– safely. However, after scrolling various social media channels there are a lot of folks that don’t. You can do it safely. Hike in pairs or have a detailed plan outlining your stops etc. left with aContinue reading “Wannabe on the Trail: Winter Hiking”

Flashback Friday: Agate Fossil Beds National National Monument, August 2015

I had never heard of this place. Scottsbluff— Chimney Rock, learned about them in 5th grade but it wasn’t until I headed to Nebraska in 2014 I heard about Agate. Even then I didn’t make it over there… But I planned time to go the next year. A co-worker and I both had a dayContinue reading “Flashback Friday: Agate Fossil Beds National National Monument, August 2015”

Snow Squall… WTF?

We had a snowsquall on December 15– what the heck is a snowsquall you ask? A cold, miserable whiteout with a time limit. Howling wind, blowing snow, and a massive temperature change. It went from almost 48 degrees down to 25 degrees. While it was a “cool” experience it made me long for warmer days.Continue reading “Snow Squall… WTF?”

Snow Days and Sled Fails

Well…I jinxed myself. I shouldn’t have made a crack about the cold on Monday. Now, I have snow. It’s up to my shins and if there’s a drift my corgi, Freya, becomes submerged. I don’t dislike snow. I actually really love it and it makes me happy. Until I have to shovel the wet heavyContinue reading “Snow Days and Sled Fails”

Wannabe on the Trail: Side Hustles & Small Business

Hey all! I don’t know if it’s the millennial mindset or just the ADHD talking but I keep trying to find new ways to make my hobbies pay for themselves. I like hiking and thought taking photos and writing about it would be fun. Probably not a high paying niche but fun. Once I startedContinue reading “Wannabe on the Trail: Side Hustles & Small Business”

Wannabe on the Trail: Winter’s Here

Well, at least it’s not snowing…yet. Woke up to a -3 day. Not my favorite thing. But I need to get over it. I don’t want fall into the same patterns I do every winter were I binge watch stuff, or read, under a blanket and not go outside. I want to see if suckingContinue reading “Wannabe on the Trail: Winter’s Here”
